KUMAMOTO

Kumamoto Prefecture is located in central Kyushu and is a convenient jumping off point for sightseeing in Kyushu.
Kumamoto also boasts the world's largest caldera at Aso, which is a must-see.
You can also enjoy walks and horseback riding on the Kusa Senrigahama grasslands in the basin surrounded by the mountains.
There are lots of other attractions, such as historical shrines and hands-on leisure experiences, to bring you closer to nature.
Kumamoto is also a hot spring heaven, with hot springs for you to enjoy throughout the prefecture, such as nationally renown hot spring town Kurokawa Onsen and the charming Tsuetate Onsen.
Food-wise, Kumamoto offers low-calorie, low-cholesterol, healthy raw horsemeat (basashi), the local Aso Takamori dish Takamori dengaku (grilled skewers with miso), and bountiful rice, fruit, and vegetables grown in its rich groundwater.
Kumamoto's nature also offers up meat and fish.
It is a delicious feast for the senses no matter what you choose.
