Nabegataki falls
Although the waterfall is only about 10 m high, it is around 20 m wide, and the sun shining through the water falling like a broad curtain is a beautiful and mystical sight. It took ages for the waterfall to have its present shape, which is said to have been created by a huge eruption about 90,000 years ago that created Aso's caldera. An event is held in the spring in which the falls are lit up from behind for a limited time.
