Saga Castle History Museum
Saga Castle History Museum was built as a faithful reconstruction of the Honmaru Goten (“Inner Circle Palace”) of Saga Castle within the castle ruins. It is the first reconstruction of a honmaru goten in Japan, and is the largest wooden reconstruction in the country, measuring 2,500 square meters. Inside, visitors are introduced to the restoration of Saga Castle, the science and technology of Saga clan, which was at the forefront during the bakumatsu and Meiji Ishin (the end of the Edo period (1603-1868) and the start of the Meiji period (1868-1912)), and the many historical people who came from Saga.
In addition, you can experience a comfortable Japanese space in the 45-meter long tatami corridor and the great hall, which boasts 320 tatami mats (approx. 584 square meters).
