KINRYUJI

Kinryuji is a Zen temple with 400 years of history. It was built by the daughter of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu, who unified all of Japan during the Edo period. Located in the attractive tourist destination of Asakusa, it has a tree-filled garden and wooden buildings where you can relax and engage in meditation. Zazen meditation focuses on slowly breathing out, helping you realize that you are living here and now, and resolves mental anxiety caused by life's troubles. The temple holds English-supported zazen sessions every day, and provides explanations, zazen practice, sutra copying, and matcha tea with sweets. Chairs are also available.
