Fukuoka is a treasure trove of food, making it one of the top destinations for food enthusiasts due to its gourmet cuisine. Fukuoka is mostly known for its noodles such tonkotsu ramen, with its white pork bone broth and thin noodles, and the characteristically soft noodles of Hakata udon.

Fukuoka’s Famous Festivals

Fukuoka is famous for its Summer Festivals, if you are lucky to be visiting Fukuoka between June and August, you have to attend at least one of the three popular Festivals, Kokura Gion Daiko Drums Festival, a designated national intangible folk cultural property, Tobata Gion Oyamagasa, A festival in Japan where floats change their appearance during the day by being decorated in gold and silver embroidery and at night by removing the ornaments and transforming into 12-tier pyramids, and Hakata Gion Yamakasa, a summer festival that was registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, dating back to 770 years ago to celebrate Summer Season’s arrival.

Traveling from Tokyo to Fukuoka

You have two easy ways to reach Fukuoka, the first route is by taking a flight from Haneda airport to Fukuoka airport which takes approximately an hour and 30 minutes. Or you can take the second route by the Tokaido & Sanyo Shinkansen from Tokyo Station and arrive at Hakata station which takes around 5 hours.
