Oita Prefecture is called the "onsen prefecture" for its many hot springs known across Japan, such as Beppu Onsen and Yufuin Onsen.
Oita's scenic spots created by a lush nature and history are alluring, and the beautiful autumn leaves of Yabakei Gorge are visited by many tourists in the fall.
Kitsuki City, known as "Little Kyoto," is a castle town with a rare, uneven topography, whereby the commercial district is located in a valley, surrounded by samurai residences on the hilltops to the north and south.
You can pray at Usa Jingu shrine, the head shrine of over 40,000 Hachiman shrines across Japan, whose beautiful main shrine is designated a national treasure.
In addition to the chicken dishes of its famous tori-ten chicken tempura and nakatsu fried chicken, Oita also boasts a wealth of seafood, such as the Seki Aji and Seki Saba branded fish, with their firm flesh created by the rough waters of the Seto Inland Sea and Pacific Ocean.

Route 1

  • Haneda airport → Oita airport : Approximatly 1 hour 30 minutes

Route 2

  • Tokyo station → Oita station : Approximately 6 hours 30 minutes by Tokaido & Sanyo shinkansen and limited express train

    After being exposed to the charm of Japanese food through the Kappabashi Dougu Street and Sushi cooking class, take a trip to old-line Prefecture, Oita.
    You can spent calm and peaceful time at Usa Jingu and Onsenkyou (spa resort) and feel real significance of Japan.
    Hop on a water taxi from Sumida river and enjoy your night cruise with beautiful night view of Tokyo's metropolis skyline. Then take a trip to the Hita Hot Spring Resort, famous for its cormorant-fishing and dinner on the houseboat. Fantastic trip with reflection of the lights on the water.
