Chiran Peace Museum
The town of Chiran was the home of an Imperial Japanese Army kamikaze base at the end of the Pacific War. The peace museum collects, preserves, and exhibits valuable materials, such as the portraits, possessions, and records of the deceased members of the Imperial Army tokko special attack squadron who turned themselves into human bombs by flying their bomb-laden planes into ships, in attacks that were unprecedented in human history at the time. The museum conveys the true feelings of those days to future generations and contributes to world peace. It teaches us the misery of war and the preciousness of peace and life so that this tragedy will not be repeated again.
